Groundbreaking project with Futurelab
theWorkshop is proud to be working with idea incubators, Futurelab, on a project which aims to help young learners develop meaningful conversations that are supported in both the home and school. My-E (My Education) helps children to have 'conversations that matter'. We hope that My-E will help children to make their home and school cultures more visible to both teachers and parents/guardians, thereby providing the basis for a more personalised learning journey.

Online conference website for NCSL
theWorkshop developed a conference-style website for NCSL's 'Tomorrow's leaders today' campaign, designed to raise awareness about how to develop, train and retain the headteachers of tomorrow. Packed with audio features, keynote video speeches and several hours worth of e-learning, the Tomorrow's leaders today website sounds out a compelling call to action to all those who have a stake in the future of school leadership in the UK. The audio content includes a round-table discussion chaired by Sue MacGregor, which introduces keynote speakers and encourages visitors to delve deeper into the main website content.

The advice-resources training programme 2008 – the next step

We delivered the advice-resources training programme in 2007, and we’ve refined and improved the programme for 2008. We see it as an opportunity to work closely with nextstep contract managers and the advice-resources team to develop a practical and cost-effective training programme.

advice-resources provides guides, diagnostics and databases to support the delivery of nextstep and learndirect advice services.

Hands-on
The 2008 training programme will ensure that nextstep contractors feel confident using advice-resources effectively with their clients. We’ll offer hands-on training to IAG practitioners whether they attended a 2007 session or not.

We’ll be delivering the sessions throughout June and July. They’ll provide IAG practitioners with the opportunity to learn about the entire advice-resources product range and get interactive with five of the most popular resources:
• Career Values Tool
• CV Builder
• Funding Directory
• Qualifications Calculator
• Skills and Interests Assessment

Spreading the word
We’re using our expertise in a range of media to communicate with IAG practitioners and contract managers about the workshops. Announcements about the training programme’s format and purpose were placed on the advice-resources website and sent out via email and post. All nextstep contract managers were asked to express their interest and send details of their workshop requirements.

As a taster of what’s to come, we’ve sent out the advice-resources 2008 product brochure and training guide to the 47 nextstep centres across the country. These explain the purpose of the training, including who it is for and how it will work.

Real-life training
We’ll use video case studies that represent real-life clients to provide authentic examples that the delegates will use to complete workshop activities. By doing this, we can help delegates transfer the way they think in the workshop to the way they work with clients every day.
