Something to shout about

The Speaker’s School Council Awards (SSCA) celebrate, showcase and reward the work that school councils are doing across the country. After a successful pilot scheme last year, Parliament’s Education Service wanted a website to handle secure applications and showcase projects that school councils could shout about.

Manage and moderate

We integrated the application systems used on the pilot into a single site. It allows schools to register, create a public showcase and complete their private award entry. The SSCA team can moderate and publish showcase entries, email and alert registered users to deadlines and store and export entries for the judges to select the winners.

Public showcase

Each school can create their own public showcase, so we had to make sure the site had a consistent look and feel throughout. With so much user-generated content – almost all pages are created by teachers and students from different schools – this was a real challenge. But with the showcase pages alone getting 10,000 page views in the months after launch, we think we pulled it off.
